Hating the unvaccinated

21.07.2021 - EB

A few days before she arrived in Prague on Mon., Ursula von der Leyen said in a press release that Europe will never allow parts of its society to be stigmatized, whether because of whom someone loves, age, ethnicity, political opinions or religious beliefs. She didn't speak about this in her press conference with PM Andrej Babiš, because the CR isn't a hotspot of LGBTIQ discrimination. The main minority now being stigmatized in Czech society are the unvaccinated. For the biochemist and war profiteer Jan Konvalinka, they are "fools, ignoramuses and people who are not responsible." Petr Honzejk of HN compared them to football hooligans. For Southern Bohemian Gov. Martin Kuba of ODS, they are merely "uninformed." The CR has a law against inciting hatred of any group, but it is more likely to be used to protect the LGBTIQ community. At some point, Czech courts will no doubt be asked to decide whether unvaccinated people also enjoy fundamental European rights.
