Turek's different world

13.10.2025 - EB

As Edward Snowden noted in Permanent Record six years ago, the stated goal of the CIA is to "fundamentally try to collect everything and hang on to it forever." Old Facebook posts of MP Filip Turek of the Motorists, if authentic, would clearly be covered by such a data grab. Deník N wouldn't reveal the source for its article about Turek on Fri., but journalist Zdislava Pokorná said after her other big recent scoop, Pavel Blažek's bitcoin affair, that her news site approaches leaked information from the standpoint of whether it's in the public interest. Olomouc Senior State Prosecutor Radim Dragoun never publicly revealed the source of that illegal leak, so he apparently also considered it in the public interest, or at least his own. This time even more is at stake. Someone with access to hard-to-get information clearly doesn't want Turek in the new government, and perhaps not even the Motorists or SPD at all. In a different world Turek's posts, even if authentic, wouldn't matter, but that world hasn't yet arrived.
