Pavel vs. Turek 2028

18.12.2025 - EB

When Donald Trump decides to take down a political rival, he gives the person a nickname: Crooked Hillary Clinton, Sleepy Joe Biden, Low Energy Jeb Bush, etc. Getting a nickname is a sort of distinction, because it means the person is important enough to be considered a threat. In a similar way, Pres. Petr Pavel has started calling Motorists MP Filip Turek a "little boy" and a "truly bad example." In reaction to Turek's much-publicized transgressions, Pavel said in a Facebook video on Mon. that, "No adult man, let alone one aspiring to be president, should allow himself to behave in this way." Oops, Turek is aspiring to be the environment minister, even if he does, according to Daniel Kaiser of Echo, want to use the ministerial post as a springboard to the presidency. This Freudian slip on Pavel's part raises the disturbing possibility that Pavel's open resistance to appointing Turek, and the ample assistance he's getting from the Castle-friendly media, is actually a Trump-like effort to take down a potential rival.
