Newton's law of grand coalitions
An object in motion remains in motion unless acted upon by an outside force, and little can now get in the way of an ODS-ČSSD grand coalition. We aren't only talking about Prague. Events of the past few days suggest that a grand coalition on the national level is in motion too. Here's the scenario: VV continues to implode and make coalition mischief; Michal Hašek defeats Bohuslav Sobotka to become ČSSD chairman; hostility between Miroslav Kalousek and Petr Nečas escalates; Zdeněk Bakala and Zdeněk Tůma finally admit that Kalousek isn't their cup of tea; and Václav Klaus orchestrates a political solution in mid-2011 that doesn't include Nečas. The wild card is Kalousek. He's the only current politician capable of exerting an equal and opposite force on Klaus. We're willing to bet, though, that Kalousek throws his weight behind a grand coalition too, saying good-bye forever to his short-lived TOP 09.

an object in motion ... - one of Newton's laws of motion;to implode - to collapse or cause to collapse violently inward;
to make/cause mischief - to incite quarrels or otherwise cause trouble;
not one's cup of tea - not what one likes or is interested in;
equal and opposition force - Newton's third law of motion states that if one body exerts a force on another, there is an equal and opposition reaction.
