Crisis? Whose crisis? - the more-common expression is, "Crisis? What crisis?";

Harry Bosch - a character in novels by Michael Connelly;

to be wont to do something - to be in the habit of doing something;

to fan - to increase the strength (of a fire) by blowing on it or stirring up the air near it;

conceivable - capable of being imagined or grasped mentally;

to solder together - literally, to join two pieces of metal with the use of a low-melting alloy;

scrap - a small piece of something, esp. one that is left over after the greater part has been used;

one fell swoop - all at one time.
