Obama vs. Nixon
Czechs finally know how it feels to be an American voter: Two presidential candidates, neither of which suits about half of those who go to the polls. Many voters will be choosing this or that candidate to make sure the other candidate doesn't get elected. Other Czechs will be looking for an Obama-like figure who promises to bring hope and change. This was originally supposed to be Jan Fischer, but HN usurped this for its own candidate by embellishing the Prince with the famous Obama election colors. But if Schwarzenberg of center-right TOP 09 is Obama, who is center-left Miloš Zeman in the American scheme of things? Certainly not Mitt Romney. What about Richard Nixon, who introduced a major left-wing shock policy in 1971? With a Nixon-like candidate, voters at least know what they are getting, for good or for bad. With an Obama-like candidate, the room for disappointment later is much greater.
