Zeman and Kellner in China

The Chinese stand on ceremony, as we wrote two weeks ago, and since their president will want his ceremonial dinner tonight with Miloš Zeman to be mainly about business, and not Hong Kong democracy, it's only natural that Xi Jinping would expect Petr Kellner of PPF to be there too. But should he be? Zeman is supposed to be in China to promote Czech business, so how does a Dutch holding company (PPF Group N.V.) set up specifically to circumvent Czech laws fit into his concept of economic diplomacy? What benefit will Czechs derive from Kellner's activities in China? And do Czechs really want someone like Kellner representing them at a dinner with the Chinese president? As the richest Czech, Kellner should theoretically be leading the effort spoken about by philosopher Václav Bělohradský, whereby the oligarchy becomes the elite of society. The elite should be the bearer of certain values. Instead, Kellner is taking steps to f*** the minority shareholders of O2 CR. Tonight, Zeman will be officially endorsing such behavior.
