Criminal conspiracy in the Czech Parliament

11.01.2016 - EB

The coalition should know by now that it's dangerous to let First Dep. House Speaker Jaroslava Jermanová of ANO venture far from her perch in Parliament. She told Czech TV on Fri. night that she will submit a proposal for changing the rules of order in Parliament, because the country has developed, and the rules don't reflect the current situation. She was referring to the filibustering in the matter of the EET online sales-reporting system. The coalition intends to put an end to the obstruction later this month by setting a fixed time for a final vote. Jermanová left herself wide open to the question of why she plans an amendment if the current rules allow debate on EET to be cut off. The coalition is clearly hoping that the Constitutional Court won't consider this one violation of the law to be so egregious. Yet isn't it the police who should decide now whether conspiring to violate the law of the land is a premeditated criminal offense?
