Put up or shut up about China
Not a word is written in the coalition agreement about the Czech government's policy toward China. If two of the three ruling parties wanted to change the current policy, it would therefore be a relatively simple thing to do so by outvoting the other party. Why then, aren't ANO and KDU-ČSL doing this? Andrej Babiš wrote in Právo today that he personally favors letting anyone meet with anyone anytime he or she wants to. This is easily decipherable code for saying that he disagrees with the current interpretation of the one-China policy to mean that official meetings with the Dalai Lama are taboo. Likewise, Culture Min. Daniel Herman continues to say that he is proud to have met officially with the Dalai Lama and would do so again. Whom are they trying to fool? You can't have one policy toward China on paper and another policy toward China for the mass media. It's time for them to put up - by changing the official policy - or to shut up.
