Kiska's color revolution
"Fifteen years ago, America destroyed my country," was the headline this week in the New York Times over an article by Iraqi author Sinan Antoon. Credible estimates have put the number of deaths as a result of the 2003 invasion at more than 1m, he said, and the new U.S.-backed government was one of the most corrupt in the world. He didn't mention the "color revolutions" that followed in many countries. The old regimes there were also ousted on the promise of a brighter tomorrow, but in most cases the people ended up suffering more than they had under the old dictators. "Color revolution" and "Maidan" are still expressions of hope for many, but they are increasingly expressions of revilement for others. When Miloš Zeman used both terms today in MFD, it was clear what he meant. He was showing full support for his friend Robert Fico and, just like Fico, accusing Andrej Kiska of siding with evil forces who don't mean Slovakia well, no matter what they promise.
