Cheat me once...

26.02.2019 - EB

In an interview with HN around Christmastime, GM José Perdomo Lorenzo of T-Mobile stated repeatedly that price isn't the issue with regard to low data use in the CR. When 70% of customers don't use up their data limit, he said, we're talking about a really big number. In the past, he said, it was the other way around: 60-80% of customers used up their data. And what happened in the meantime? Lorenzo forgot to mention this part. Operators started cutting off customers who used up their data, instead of just slowing them down. O2 CR was even fined Kč 4.5m for automatically charging for extra data. In some cases, it did so even after the customer had expressly asked that the data service be cut off upon exhaustion of the limit. Lorenzo talked about how the operators have lost touch with the customer but played ignorant about how it happened. It's no great mystery. Customers got the feeling that they were being cheated, and in some cases the courts agreed.
