It's your war, too
At the Ministerial to Promote a Future of Peace and Security in the Middle East in Warsaw on Feb. 13-14, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that no one denied any of the basic facts about Iran: "No one spoke up saying that the data set about the threat that Iran poses in the Middle East is any way wrong or overhyped." One of the countries that held its tongue was the Czech Republic, represented by Dep. Foreign Min. Aleš Chmelař. The U.S. is now "slouching toward another Middle East war," according to Roger Cohen of the New York Times. Depending on how you count them, this means Middle East War No. 7 or 8. According to U.S. Air Forces Central Command, 4,795 bombs/weapons were dropped on Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria in the first quarter alone. Hundreds of thousands of Czechs protested yesterday against Andrej Babiš's conflicts of interest, but they ignored his government's tacit approval of yet another war. They couldn't see the forest for the trees.
