That's what friends and allies are for

Jan Syrový told the nation that it would be easier for him to die than to order the army to stand down but that he had no choice, because the country had been abandoned. Three and a half months later, British PM Neville Chamberlain returned home from a visit to Italy to see Mussolini and, according to the New York Times, produced a feeling of relief among his critics and many supporters because in Rome he apparently "gave nothing away." It is now the United Kingdom that has left the European Union, voluntarily. In bidding Czechs adieu on Fri., U.K. Amb. Nick Archer said that Britain and the CR have been friends and allies since the foundation of Czechoslovakia. How are Czechs to understand this blatant rewriting of history? That for both Britons and Americans, friends and allies exist so that they can be cast aside when it is convenient and picked up later as if nothing ever happened?
