Trump, Fiala want to weaken Iran

05.02.2025 - EB

During the presidency of Joe Biden, Czech politicians, generals, intelligence heads and advisers routinely promoted Biden's policies before Biden even announced them. The CR thereby played a small but important role in the escalation of the war in Ukraine that everyone pretends to oppose. This role of Czech politicians is continuing under Donald Trump. PM Petr Fiala has rarely ever uttered the world "Iran" publicly, but shortly after his national security adviser, Tomáš Pojar, returned late last week from a week of meetings with Republicans and Democrats in Washington, Fiala told Czech TV (at 25:30) that the situation in the Middle East will never be stable until "we weaken Iran with the combined forces of the West." Yesterday Trump issued an executive order for "enacting maximum pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran." Czechs can be proud to have a PM who is so well informed, or worried to have one who always falls into line with the U.S. president, no matter who he is or what he does.
