No seat at the table for Trump's best ally

17.02.2025 - EB

National Security Adviser Tomáš Pojar traveled to Washington at the time of the inauguration of Donald Trump with talking points about why the Czech Republic is the most important ally in Europe for the United States. When asked by Petr Kamberský of LN about Poland, Pojar said that if you look at Czech policy toward Israel, Iran, China, Russia and Cuba, the CR is definitely more often on the side of the U.S. than Poland is. The Poles are holding strong cards and are in a higher weight class, he said, but on concrete foreign-policy issues, no country has seen the world so much like America over the past 30 years as the CR. Poland is among the "main European countries" invited to Paris today by French Pres. Emmanuel Macron to discuss regional security, given concerns over the shifting U.S. priorities of the new administration. The other countries are the U.K., Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Denmark. No need to invite the Czechs, because Macron already knows the American position.
