Anti-Trump messenger ventures to Kyiv
Pres. Petr Pavel was the first diplomatic tourist to visit Kyiv since Donald Trump suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine and then reinstated it. The Castle said that the number of people who knew about the trip was limited for security reasons, but Oleksandr Kamyshin, an adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky, announced in Prague last Tues. that Pavel would be traveling to Kyiv very soon. Michael Žantovský, an adviser to Pavel, told Czech Radio that such a visit is planned in collaboration with several intelligence services. Whether one of them was Russian, he didn't say, but Pavel's message while in Kyiv was one that Moscow is glad to hear broadcast. It was that the CR will continue to provide military aid and should be part of a coalition of the willing that sends stabilizing forces to monitor a ceasefire. It's no doubt true, as Pavel said in Kyiv, that Russia isn't serious about peace. But it wants to be able to say that Europe is the obstacle to it, so it gave the bearer of the West's anti-Trump message safe passage.
