Covid takes no prisoners

13.01.2021 - EB

Prof. Michal Mejstřík, who died on Jan. 7 at age 68, wasn't widely known to the general public, but everyone in the upper levels of Czech politics and business either knew him or knew of him. He was omnipresent. That made him a natural to become part of the Czech covid elite. In commenting on his death, MFD said on Sat. that he had joined the fight against the disease as a member the KoroNERV-20 group but that "covid isn't choosy" in taking its victims. Covid isn't choosy about whom it infects, and neither is it choosy in another way. Mejstřík was the consummate insider. He was a product of the Communist-era Economics Institute, a member of Václav Klaus's little econ group, on the supervisory board of ČEZ, a business partner of Martin Roman for five years, and sup. board chair at Český aeroholding at the time of Miroslav Dvořák. None of this gave him any covid protection. Anyone can be a victim of the globally coordinated mismanagement of this disease.
