Why it matters who owns Blesk

02.11.2015 - EB

If you don't give a New Year's tip to your garbage man from Pražské služby, there's a chance he'll come by next time and swipe your doormat. That's the kind of street-level corporate culture that reigns at the municipal-services company under CEO Patrik Roman. It's also apparently the culture that reigns at the top, where 20% co-owner Daniel Křetínský (through AVE CZ) is trying to swipe Pražské služby's Malešice incinerator. Some people say this valuable asset is the main reason for the current turmoil at Prague city hall. If Křetínský disclosed the true ownership of Czech News Center (Ringier), which publishes Blesk, it would either confirm or dispel our stated assumption - which has never been disproved - that Martin Roman is one of the owners of the tabloid. If Martin Roman is in business with Křetínský at Blesk, it means that his brother Patrik has a major undeclared conflict of interest regarding the waste incinerator.
